Post-Op

Gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy patients will typically be seen postoperatively at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, 12 months and yearly after the first year.

Adjustable gastric band patients will be seen postoperatively at 2 weeks and will typically receive their first band adjustment at 6 weeks. It is very important to follow up every 3-4 weeks to determine if a band adjustment is needed. This is very important and is key to your success. You must stay in the “green” or “right” zone depending on your particular band.

It is also very important for you to attend the 1 month post-op dietitian session. Follow-up is essential to most patients success.

Successful long-term weight loss depends on your dedication to a new life style. You will be required to significantly modify your eating habits and follow a strict diet during the first few weeks of recovery. You must also commit to your scheduled follow-up visits for the first year, limit your alcohol intake and eliminate all use of nicotine products. Your rate of weight loss will vary based on your commitment to making life-changing modifications to eating and exercise routine.
